Why you can trust James's name — accountability, not points.

Every author at VegasPokie earns a credibility tier from real, checkable work — Lighthouse lab runs, SSL/TLS security scans and methodology sign-offs — never from posting volume. Here's where James stands.

Four-eyes principle · No solo sign-offs
Rule: nothing publishes on one person's word

Who James scans — and who checks his findings.

Every VegasPokie verdict passes through at least two specialists. James supplies the performance and security data behind every listing — but his own numbers are checked by our editor-in-chief and pokies analyst. Accountability runs both ways.

About James — and how he got here.

years in web performance — most recently shipping speed and security at two of Australia's best-known tech companies before he joined VegasPokie as our newest team member.

About me

I spent years in web performance before casinos ever crossed my desk. I was a site-reliability engineer at Atlassian keeping enterprise dashboards fast under load, then moved into front-end performance at Canva, obsessing over how quickly a real phone could paint and respond. I think in milliseconds, not vibes.

I joined VegasPokie in September 2025 as the newest member of the team. My job is simple: every casino we shortlist gets run through my Lighthouse + iPhone-13 lab on a real device, and I pull SSL Labs and Mozilla Observatory reports on every one. If an operator serves mixed content or weak TLS, I flag it — no excuses. The mobile-FCP scores you see on every review are mine.

I'm based in Brisbane, QLD, and I still write the odd open-source performance tool on the weekend. A casino can have the best bonus in the country, but if it loads in eight seconds on a phone and leaks your session, it fails my checks first.

My experience

My years in tech span infrastructure, front-end engineering and security. From keeping enterprise tooling online to shipping fast experiences on consumer phones, I've learned where real speed and real safety live. My areas of depth:

  • Site-reliability engineering — uptime, load behaviour and the failure modes that hit users first.
  • Front-end performance — render path, FCP/TTI tuning and what actually moves the needle on a phone.
  • Web security scanning — TLS, CSP, mixed content and the headers that quietly leave players exposed.

What I bring to the table

  • A real-device mobile performance lab. Every listed casino is timed on an actual iPhone — FCP and TTI, never a synthetic estimate.
  • SSL/TLS & CSP security scans. I pull SSL Labs and Mozilla Observatory reports on every operator and flag weak crypto.
  • Session-security review. I check login and cashier flows for the mistakes that put a player's account at risk.

My vision

A slow, insecure casino fails before the bonus even matters. That's the bar I hold us to. A site that can't load on a phone or can't protect a login session has no business on a VegasPokie shortlist, no matter how big the welcome offer is.

My goal is that every Australian player opening a casino from a VegasPokie review gets a page that's fast, stable and safe on the device in their hand. Speed and security aren't nice-to-haves — they're the foundation everything else sits on. Got a performance or security concern about a listing? Tell me.

Scan 05 Jun 2026

Ran a full Top 10 performance lab on a real iPhone 13; logged FCP and TTI for every shortlisted casino and refreshed the mobile-speed scores.

Flag 29 May 2026

Flagged a candidate casino for weak TLS configuration after an SSL Labs scan returned an outdated cipher suite; pulled it from the shortlist pending a fix.

Edit 17 May 2026

Rewrote the methodology security section to spell out our SSL/TLS, CSP and mixed-content checks for every listing.

Milestone 22 Apr 2026

Hit a fleet-wide median mobile TTI of 2.1s across every shortlisted casino after a round of re-tests — the fastest snapshot we've logged.

Scan 14 Mar 2026

Re-scanned six PayID-friendly casinos for mixed content and CSP coverage; cleared four and sent two back for header fixes.
